A New Year in West Cork

The days are very slowly getting longer, there is definitely a gentle stretch in the evenings!  Spring seems a little early with daffodils already blooming, catkins bursting out and if the rain stopped a little we could even be cutting the grass.  The weather has been pretty grim but in amongst all the storms there are breaks when the clouds part and we catch a glimpse of sunshine.  This is when we drop everything and head out into the gentle country side, take long relaxed walks on empty beaches or bracing hikes up the legendary hills of the Mizen.  This is when you feel you have stumbled on the best kept secret on the Wild Atlantic Way, a cosy corner by the fire of a traditional pub, the best table at one of restaurants that are always full in the summer, or the undivided attention of the shop keeper who is delighted to see you!
