The Eurospar Fastnet Triathlon 10th Anniversary Celebration Weekend is on 6th to 8th June in Schull, West Cork.
The weekend kick starts with a meet and greet on Friday night with Karl Henry (personal trainer with columns in the Irish Independent weekend magazine) at registration from 6 to 10pm including talk at 8.30pm.
Saturday the triathlon sprint distance race takes place on Saturday at 10.30, ’96FM Street Fleet’ will be present, there will be prize giving after the race with a street party and music with ‘The Planted’.
The fun will conclude on Sunday with a free barbeque for all.
This race consists of a 750m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run and caters for those who want to try out the race as well as seasoned athletes. This race can be entered as a team or individually. The routes are suitable for all abilities and the cycle is suitable for all types of roadworthy bikes (you will need a helmet). The run is out and back along the scenic edge of Schull Harbour looking out at Cape Clear Island and the Fastnet Rock. The bike is an undulating route, which goes halfway between Schull and Ireland’s most south-westerly point, Mizen Head. You will get a chance to experience the rugged West Cork landscape and witness the power of the Atlantic Ocean along the way.
